Self Portraits (Mixed Media on Paper)
A study on the perspective of Vision vs. the perspective of Attention.
Taking inspiration from art movements like Cubism and Expressionism the following portraits were created on the themes of Modern perception of "Beauty".
I like to call this series - Yati's Cats!
These miniature paintings are a result of a live study performed to describe a character in their most original form.
Cats have been chosen to portray the same as they are the most carefree and expressive creature. I wanted the illustrations to be deliberately open-ended to let the viewer reinterpret it and connect it to their personal experiences.
Midnight Shenanigans
This illustration is an attempt to portray a cat's mind.
Chromatic overlay is used to create a sense of movement and energy. The composition is based on the mischievous nature of a feline. The cat is in its most basic form to help viewer sketch their own character in their minds that they relate to.
An attempt to capture spontaneity of the moment these illustrations were created while experimenting with a single linear stroke.
It was interesting to note how expressive and emotional a form generated using a single line can be.
